![]() ![]() ![]() I mean stack hero levels per mission or what? Sorcerer might be the weakest synergy: With lots of summoned units the sorcerer takes little advantage of human production bonus or their armored units. Humans irregulars are okay and humans make decent rogues but nothing to write home about. If carefuly protected they can be the core of your force though the whole game.ĭreadnoughts double down on production bonuses and have advantages for armored units that make them do very well with humans, and human necromancers can be strong too (ghoul knights are sort of crazy) while human theocrats have the advantage of the knight getting Devout for free, makeing them hertic slaughtering machines. They synergize well with your preferances, because their basic Cavalry, buildable as soon as your war-hall is built, gain XP fast and upgrade to knights at gold medal. Nevertheless I can see myself giving another chance to this game some time latter.Originally posted by michaelmerlin:Humans get bonus production and have lots of armored units, with the Human Knight as their racial unit being a tough, highly moble and hard hitting teir 3 unit. Overall, this game has a lot of flaws, but it has a charm. For example, 3 Shadow Stalkers (tier 3) most of the time kill full dwarven army unless it has few Manticore Riders (tear 4). Some units are clearly OP against certain factions. ![]() Backstab/flanking mechanics are ridicolous. Walls are a joke since most of the units can either scale them or totally ignore them. Actually, there aren't many occasions, when you can use terrain to your advantage. Futhermore, high-tier units and heroes are much stronger than low-tier ones and you can't outplay them by using some cunning tactics. What's more, any game, which specializes on tactical gameplay will wipe the floor with AW. Tactical battles would be ok-ish if player could position his units before the battle. In addition, there isn't many options to develop your cities not as barracks. In both cases millitary units is all that you need to produce. You have Civ-like map experience, but it's shallow since you either rush your enemies at the beggining or you will be swamped by endless hordes of Shadow Stalkers. The problem is that AW doesn't excel at anything. I would say that this game is a mixture of King's Bounty and Civilization series with AI from Shogun 2. I have mixed feelings regarding this game (played only in solo).Īge of Wonders III (AW) provides unique gaming experience. ![]()
